Main Stage Session 1:
The Dr Karl vs Everyone Game Show
with MC Adam Spencer
Hobart City Hall
9 August
Doors 5:30pm; Show 5.45pm – 7.15pm
$17 General Admission / $13 Concession
Dr Karl can famously answer nearly any scientific question you can throw at him, or at least he’ll do his damnedest to try. The man’s been called “unstumpable.” But is he really? This important question is the premise of Beaker Street’s newest game show, hosted by the legendary Adam Spencer. Study up. You’ll be going head-to-head with the Good Dr himself, as will a raft of special guests.
Is it appropriate for kids? No. But Dr Karl and Adam Spencer’s Saturday shows are.
Will there be a live band? Of course.
Will you laugh so hard, you’ll snort beer out of your nose? There’s only one way to find out.
About the Main Stage Sessions
We’re transforming City Hall into a vibrant, interactive den of cerebral delights. Imagine listening in on fascinating chats amongst brilliant scientists while putting your feet up in a friend’s lounge room, which is also a cabaret theatre with two well stocked bars in it. Each session offers a mix of presentations, interactive stuff, really short talks, live music by our incredible house band Stevie and the Bunsen Burners, and all sorts of surprises. You can sneak off for a drink any time, and even come and go during the session, but surely you won’t want to miss a minute of the action.

Venue
Hobart City Hall
The home of Beaker Street’s Main Stage and ground-zero of the Festival Epicentre. This stunning heritage building will be transformed into a suave science saloon, with cabaret style seating, live music, and a jam-packed program of events. From Friday night, right through to early Sunday morning, the City Hall Main Stage will be buzzing with all things science. Then, at 10pm, the madness descends and the space transforms into the biggest, baddest, burlesquey bar in Hobart.
Accessibility
Hobart City Hall has level access and is wheelchair accessible, and we’re going all-out to optimise the acoustics and comfort levels. For particular accessibility concerns, please contact [email protected]
Eat and drink
We’ll have a bar on site serving up tasty Tassie alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and dishing out delicious bar snacks.
